DAY
1 - SALT LAKE CITY/PARK CITY - Today your
winter adventure begins. Schedule your flight to arrive in Salt Lake City.
Your tour escort will meet you at the airport at 1:00pm to start your
"winter wonderland" tour. You’ll start by learning where
most of the ceremonies for the 2002 Winter Olympics were held in Salt
Lake City. You’ll check into your downtown hotel where this evening
you are invited to a get-acquainted banquet to meet your fellow passengers.
(D)
DAY 2 - MORMON TABERNACLE CHOIR/WEST YELLOWSTONE
- A once-in-a-lifetime opportunity awaits you this morning! Special
seating has been arranged for your group at Temple Square, where you will
have a chance to hear the world-famous Mormon Tabernacle Choir's weekly
broadcast performance. (choir's schedule permitting). Then we’ll
depart the Wasatch Mountains and drive north past the Great Salt Lake,
Hill Air Force Base, and Utah's first settlement, Ogden. Soon you will
enter Idaho and travel through the potato-producing fields of the Gem
State. As you travel north you will pass the town of Rexburg. In 1976
the Teton Dam burst, sending a wall of water through the main street,
destroying the town. Next we enter the Island Park Region. This area is
world-famous for its outstanding trout fishing on the Madison and Henry
Rivers. After going over Targhee Pass you will enter Montana and the town
of West Yellowstone, the western gate of our nation's first national park.
Overnight in West Yellowstone, Montana. (D)
DAY 3 - YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK - This
is your day to discover Yellowstone National Park, America's oldest and
most famous national park, via private chartered snowcoaches. As you tour
the park today, you will see some of the landmarks for which Yellowstone
is famous. Among these are Firehole Falls, and the world's most famous
geyser, Old Faithful. After lunch and plenty of time to witness Old Faithful's
dramatic display, continue on south through Yellowstone and on into Grand
Teton National Park, where you will see America's youngest and most rugged
mountains, the Teton Range. Enjoy the spectacular scenery as you journey
to Jackson Hole, where you will spend the night. (B,D)
DAY 4 - JACKSON HOLE - Enjoy a beautiful
winter day in this city at the base of the rugged Teton Mountains. Just
a couple miles north of Jackson is the National Elk Refuge, winter home
for thousands of these majestic animals. This morning you’ll get
a close-up view on your sleigh ride through the Elk Refuge. You will then
visit the National Museum of Wildlife Art. This museum captures some of
the world’s most beautiful paintings, sculptures and photographs
and exhibits them right here in Jackson Hole. This afternoon you are free
to explore the many shops and restaurants of this fascinating Wild West
Town. Overnight in Jackson. (B)
DAY 5 - SALT LAKE CITY - As you leave
Jackson this morning, you'll travel through western Wyoming into Idaho,
surrounded by silver streams, soaring peaks, and lush meadows. Drive through
the rugged Snake River Canyon, stopping in pastoral Starr Valley at the
Starr Valley Cheese Factory. Around lunchtime, arrive at Bear Lake, nestled
in the mountains on the border of Idaho and Utah. Next, ascend rugged
Logan Canyon, pass through the alpine dairy country of Cache Valley, and
skirt the shores of the Great Salt Lake as you travel south. Overnight
back in Salt Lake City. This evening, join the group for a farewell banquet
at one of the hip new restaurants in Salt Lake City. (B,D)
